THE CENTRE  OFFERS COMMUNITY SERVICES

 

For over 32 years, The Centre has been providing hope, knowledge and peace of mind through services that promote independence and strengthen our community.  Call 813-251-8437 for more information on any of the following programs:

  • Project Recovery -- Project Recovery provides substance abuse assessments and intensive outpatient treatment designed especially to meet women’s needs.
  • The Centre for Girls -- The Centre for Girls offers psychosocial activities for girls, ages 10 – 18, designed to help girls transition through adolescence into healthy adults.  Located at 105 W. Sligh Avenue, The Centre for Girls is open after school, on school holidays and throughout the summer.
  • Senior Home Improvement Program (SHIP) -- SHIP provides emergency home repairs and rehabs for low-income, elderly homeowners, including carpentry, weatherization, roof repairs and replacements, and wheelchair ramps.
  • Employment Services --The Centre’s Employment Services provides counseling, employment preparation and placement, support groups and personal growth seminars.
  • Family Service Association -- Family Services, a program of The Centre, offers individual and family counseling to improve family relationships.
  • BRITE (Brief Intervention and Treatment for Elders) -- BRITE offers simple, five-question screens to determine if a person 55 or older might have a substance abuse or medication misuse (including unintentional) issue.  BRITE educates the person about medical problems that could result.  Services are free and are provided in the privacy of the person’s home.
  • Elderlink -- Elderlink provides group volunteer opportunities which are guaranteed to make visible differences for low income, older adults.
  • After Hours – After Hours provides treatment (evening hours) for individuals at risk for substance abuse dependence who may have experienced the negative consequences of substance abuse such as DUI, social, educational, and occupational problems.

 

ABOUT THE CENTRE – The Centre, a nonprofit organization, serves over 2,000 individuals each year with programs such as individual and family counseling, employment preparation for women, substance abuse treatment, out of school programs for girls and major home repairs for seniors.  Since its founding in 1977, The Centre has served over 60,000 people in the community and is accredited by The Joint Commission.
