(1967-)

daraTorres

Dara Grace Torres is an American former competition swimmer and world record-holder who is a twelve-time Olympic medalist. Torres is the first and only swimmer from the United States to compete in five Olympic Games (1984, 1988, 1992, 2000 and 2008), and, at age 41, is the oldest swimmer ever to earn a place on the U.S. Olympic team.

She attended the University of Florida in Gainesville on an athletic scholarship, where she swam for the Gators until 1989. While there, she earned 28 NCAA All-American swimming awards, the most possible, and was named the 1988 NCAA Swimmer of the Year and Southeastern Conference's Athlete of the Year.
