Getting Unstuck: Finding Purpose, Creativity, and Happiness

The Centre for Women’s Fall Third Act series is presented by our partners from Encore Tampa Bay. The series will focus on areas we may feel stuck and how we can transform ourselves and our lives.

Happiness: Learning to Change Ourselves

with Candace Watson

Have you been looking for happiness in all the wrong places? Have you been looking for happiness in money and material things? In your external appearance? In your work?   In power? Social status? And when you get more of those, does it seem empty and devoid of real meaning? Do you feel stuck in these false and limited assumptions? I may say: “If I have more than I could possibly need and I am still not truly happy, happiness must be impossible.” That’s a good example of how far we can go in fooling ourselves about the causes of happiness. The fact is without inner peace and well-being, we have nothing we need to be happy. Happiness is a state of inner fulfillment, not the gratification of inexhaustible desire for outward things. Learn how to transform your thinking and find real happiness, a deep sense of flourishing that arises from a healthy mind. Happiness is constructed; indeed it is a skill that can be learned.
